About This Course
This course is a collection of everything I have found to find public investment information before others.
By obsessively looking for information on my own investments, I have discovered places to look to find information before others.
What is Sleuthing?
To Sleuth is to "carry out a careful investigation".
From the book, "The Sleuth Investor", they say, "To make real money in the stock market you have to act like a sleuth. It's not enough to rely on SEC files, annual reports, and press releases. To uncover the most lucrative investments, you must dig beneath the printed surface of public information and sleuth for physical evidence. This is the only way to reveal the actual truth about a company's real value-and its future."
What is Scuttlebutt?
This terms was popularized by Phil Fisher in his book "Common Stock and Uncommon Profits”
Scuttlebutt involves learning more first-hand information about a company, such as from more "boots-on-the-ground" or "feet-on-the-street" investigating by speaking with others: current employees, past employees, competitors, customers, suppliers, and more. This is usually more information, and sometimes more helpful, than what can be found in financial statements, and can information not yet uncovered by others.
"How Phil Fisher’s “scuttlebutt” method changed Buffett’s life"
From Warren Buffett in the 1998 Berkshire Hathaway meeting:
"When I started out, and for a long time I used to do a lot of what Phil Fisher described — I followed his scuttlebutt method. And I don’t think you can do too much of it.
...
But I believe that as you’re acquiring knowledge about industries in general, companies specifically, that there really isn’t anything like first doing some reading about them, and then getting out and talking to competitors, and customers, and suppliers, and ex-employees, and current employees, and whatever it may be.
...
I did that with American Express back in the ’60s and essentially the scuttlebutt approach so reinforced my feeling about it that I kept buying more and more and more as I went along.
...
You’ll probably know more about the industry than most of the people in it when you get through, because you’ll bring an independent perspective to it, and you’ll be listening to everything everyone says rather than coming in with these preconceived notions and just sort of listening to your own truths after a while."

How is the Price of the Course Determined?
To put the cost of this course in perspective:
-
One college course can cost anywhere from $1,000 to $7,500+
-
One new observation could be the difference in earnings significant amounts of money
-
One new discovery could be the difference in finding better investments, leading to earnings significant amounts of money, especially when it is repeated over many years
-
Finding one piece of information could save you from making a single mistake that saves you substantial sums of money, especially if it saves you from making that same mistake continually over many years
-
Small increases in investing returns compounded over long periods of time leads to significant differences in wealth, and therefore there is a high value on learning about investing.
-
Better performance is not guaranteed. Avoiding losses or negative returns is not guaranteed. This is for educational purposes only.
This collection of information took years to find. The information is valuable to me, and not information I would like to give away for free. Therefore, I need to charge a sufficient amount to make it worth selling. Additionally, I will likely increase the price over time, and someday no longer to sell to keep the information more private to myself.
Why did you create this course?
I recognized a large gap between the current stock/business investing courses out there and the level of quality and information that I felt they should have.
I wanted to be able to provide that level of quality and information, and in the format of a course with video lessons. This way all the information could be consumed in one place (rather than across many different books, websites, podcasts, videos, etc), and learned much quicker and easier (compared to the years of reading, watching, and listening to content and buying, holding, and selling investments).
